The Precision Temperature Kettle KT200C is Ninja's stainless electric kettle for anyone who cares what temperature the water actually hits. Green tea scalded at a rolling boil turns bitter, and pour-over coffee pulled with water that is too hot tastes harsh, so this kettle heats to the right point for what is in your cup and then holds it there.

The brushed stainless jug holds 1.6 litres, about seven cups, which is enough for a single mug in the morning or a full pot for the table. Behind it sits 1500 watts of power, enough to bring a single cup up to temperature in as little as 90 seconds, so the wait between deciding on tea and drinking it stays short. The jug lifts straight off its charcoal power base for pouring, and the base stores the cord underneath when the kettle goes back in the cupboard.

Everything is driven from the illuminated panel on the base, which shows a live temperature reading as the water climbs. On this Canadian unit that panel is printed in both English and French, so the preset you press reads the same way whichever language you work in.

What to know before you buy

This is a dial-it-in kettle rather than a connected appliance. There is no clock on the panel, and no Alexa, Google Assistant or Apple HomeKit control, so every setting is made on the base in front of you. It is a vented electric kettle, not a pressure vessel, and it heats only on its own power base rather than on a stovetop. Auto shut-off ends the cycle once the water reaches the temperature you asked for.
