The Defiant Square Fingerprint Deadbolt opens to a touch. A capacitive sensor reads your fingerprint the same way a phone does, and the bolt turns — no fumbling for keys with an armful of groceries, no code to teach a house guest. It holds up to 30 fingerprints, so everyone who genuinely lives there can have their own.

This is the square escutcheon, model HSGCDX9D01APPB in matte black — the flat, contemporary plate that suits a modern door and squared-off hardware. Functionally it is identical to the round version; the difference is the shape of the trim on both faces of the door.

What separates this from a basic keypad lock is the Hubspace app. Fingerprints and codes are enrolled through it over Bluetooth, and a smart indoor plug is included in the box that bridges the lock to your Wi-Fi — so remote lock, unlock and status checks work from anywhere without buying a separate hub. It also works with Amazon Alexa and Google Home. If you would rather ignore all of that, it still works perfectly well as a plain fingerprint deadbolt.

A backlit keypad covers the times a finger will not read — wet hands, gloves, cold weather — and two physical keys are included as the last resort if the batteries run flat. Vacation mode suspends access without wiping the lock, and an anti-saw rod reinforces the bolt itself.
