The Apple iPhone 12 was the generation that redrew the whole line. Apple moved to a flat-edged aluminium frame, dropped in an OLED display across the range for the first time, added 5G, and introduced MagSafe on the back. Display & Design

The 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED runs at 2532 x 1170 and 460 ppi, with true blacks and HDR support that the LCD models before it could not match. The front is Ceramic Shield, a glass-ceramic composite Apple rates for substantially better drop performance than earlier iPhone glass. Flat stainless-adjacent edges give it a squarer, more deliberate feel in the hand than the rounded models it replaced.

Performance

The A14 Bionic was the first 5-nanometre chip in a phone, and it still comfortably runs current apps and games. It is the reason this generation continues to receive iOS updates while contemporaries have dropped off, and it is the single biggest argument for choosing this model over an older one.

Camera System

A dual 12MP system pairs a fast f/1.6 wide with a 12MP ultrawide. Night mode works across both, Deep Fusion sharpens mid-light detail, and Smart HDR 3 handles difficult mixed lighting. Video is the standout: 4K at up to 60fps with Dolby Vision HDR recording, something no other phone offered at launch. The 12MP TrueDepth front camera also shoots Night mode and Dolby Vision.

Connectivity & Durability
