The Square Reader 2nd Generation turns a phone or tablet into a card terminal. It is about the size of a matchbook, connects over Bluetooth, and accepts the two payment types that now account for nearly everything at the counter: contactless taps and chip-and-PIN cards. There is no monthly hardware fee and no contract — you pay a percentage per transaction and nothing else.
